President Vladimir Putin proposed creating a governing council at the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN) to promote the development of the organization and solve current and long-term problems. The Head of State presented the corresponding bill to the State Duma.
Previously, the academics themselves asked to create and chair the president’s board of directors.
The council will consist of no more than 20 people, including the president of the Russian Academy of Sciences. They will work for free under the leadership of Putin, who forms the composition of the council taking into account the proposals of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The Board of Trustees will consider and agree on proposals from the Presidium of RAS that relate to priority areas of activity, as well as promote the effective implementation of the potential of RAS in the field of fundamental scientific research and exploratory scientific research.
