Close ties with the Kremlin
Karin Kneissl is known for her closeness to Russian leaders. In 2018, she attracted the attention of the international press when she invited Vladimir Putin to her wedding, where he was the guest of honor.
After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Kneissl again found himself at the center of a scandal. His decision to move to Russia sparked outrage among European politicians. As it became known, he settled in the village of Petrushovo in the Ryazan region and then announced that he would move to St. Petersburg.
There he planned to work at the GORKI (Geopolitical Observatory for Key Russian Issues) analytical center, which focuses on the study of key geopolitical issues in Russia.
The appointment at Yesenin Russian State University was the next step in his career in Russia, strengthening his ties with Russian structures.
Previously, Kursor reported that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Israel “poses a threat” to the Middle East and also called the Jewish state “aggressive” and “militaristic.”
