The United States, India, Japan and Australia will launch a joint observer mission of their coast guard services in the Indo-Pacific region in 2025 “to enhance security,” according to a joint statement following a meeting between US President Joe Biden and the prime ministers of the three countries in QUAD format.
“The U.S. Coast Guard, Japan Coast Guard, Australian Border Force and Indian Coast Guard plan to launch the first ship surveillance mission in 2025 to enhance interoperability and maritime security.” – indicated in the text of the document.
It should be noted that QUAD members intend to continue conducting similar missions in the following years throughout the Indo-Pacific region.
In addition, the parties announced the launch of a logistics pilot project to share air transport capabilities to more quickly and efficiently support civil disaster response in the Indo-Pacific region.
