Gratitude is a fundamental virtue that enriches our lives both morally and humanly. Being grateful not only allows us to recognize and value what we have, but it also strengthens our relationships and helps us live more fully and satisfactorily.
From a moral perspective, gratitude is an act of justice. Recognizing and thanking favors and support received is a way of giving back to the good that others have done to us. The famous Roman philosopher Marcus Tullius Cicero said: “Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the mother of all others.” This quote highlights the importance of this value as a foundation for others, like generosity, humility, and empathy.
On a human level, gratitude has a profound impact on our emotional well-being. Scientific studies have shown that grateful people tend to be happier, less stressed, more resilient in the face of adversity, and even live longer. This feeling helps us focus on the positive, appreciate the little things in life, and maintain an optimistic outlook. As the saying goes, “to be well born is to be grateful,” reminding us that gratitude is an inherent quality of good-hearted people.
Additionally, gratitude strengthens our interpersonal relationships. Thanking others for their support and companionship builds a bond of trust and mutual respect. Ralph Waldo Emerson, an influential American writer and philosopher, said, “Let us be grateful to those who make us happy; they are the lovely gardeners who make our souls bloom.” This quote highlights how gratitude towards others enriches our lives and the lives of those around us.
In short, being grateful is a practice that benefits us on many levels. It helps us be more fair and aware of the acts of kindness we receive, improves our emotional well-being, and strengthens our relationships.
After receiving with immense joy the recognition of the Teatro de Rojas Special Prize 2024 for the work of disseminating theatrical activities through critical articles, with public recognition, I have also received a wave of congratulations through all means and means of communication between those of us who move today. My thanks are just and necessary.
With my words at the award ceremony, I have already repaid the deference of the institution that awarded me: the Board of Directors of the Rojas Theater. However, responding to each person as they deserve is an arduous task; that is why, with this article, I sincerely thank you for each message, each word of encouragement and each gesture of affection. This award is now shared with emotion with those who felt the joy of it and expressed it to me.
This recognition is a reason to move forward with more strength and dedication, and a feeling that fills me with pride and emotion. I feel deeply honored and motivated to continue contributing to the world of theater with the same passion and dedication.
