Quirónsalud launched the Scribe Projectthe innovative initiative with which the Group is evolving traditional healthcare in Spain towards a new model focused on the complete humanization of care.
This approach places the doctor-patient relationship as the backbone of the consultation, eliminate technological distractions and administrative procedures so that professionals can focus their attention exclusively on the patient.
“Looking the patient in the eye during the medical consultation, understanding what each person needs, this is our way of taking care of what is most important to us, the people,” says Dr. Cristina Caramés, Director of Healthcare and Research of Grupo Quirónsalud.
The use in consultation of ScribAnda new technological capacity of Quirónsalud which, thanks to use of generative artificial intelligence This will be possible because it will allow automatic transcription and interpretation of the conversation between the doctor and the patient.
In this way, from the voice, data entry is automated In the system, key elements are identified to complete the patient’s clinical history, all information that is irrelevant or not related to the clinical process is eliminated and, in addition, the professional is guided throughout the appointment who can dedicate themselves to caring for the person from start to finish.
All this gives rise to a new model of healthcare which promotes a closer relationship, considerably optimizes the useful time of the consultation and delivers better quality medical reports, which are given to the patient once examined and validated by the doctor, guaranteeing clear writing without abbreviations to facilitate the understanding of the situation, diagnosis and treatment, both by patients and their families.
Humanization of the consultation: without screens, without barriers, without interruptions
Technology, although it continues to be a fundamental and growing pillar in Quirónsalud centers, has been integrated in a way that does not interrupt the dynamics of care and allows the care provider to share relevant information with the patient only when necessary, without affecting fluidity. of the conversation, “what ensures that care is always directed towards the patient and not towards technological devices. “With Scribe, we restore visual contact and full attention to the patient. »
Scribe strengthens Quirónsalud’s mission to provide more humane healthcareclose, efficient and aligned with the high quality standards that characterize the Group, in which technology is at the service of the patient and the professional, but never as a barrier, but as a very important aid that accelerates and personalizes the consultation, optimizing the time and improve the experience.
Complete transformation of patient journey
The evolution of the model not only improves the patient experience, but also that of the doctoryou can focus on what really matters. It differs from the traditional model from the moment the patient self-admits and notifies when he can access the consultation directly, without going through a waiting room. Once in consultation, the specialist reviews the medical history and, if necessary, shows the test results, thus improving transparency and collaboration with the patient in their own clinical process.
During the consultation, Scribe listens and processes the conversation between doctor and patientoffering prescriptions and tests based on the information exchanged. The doctor can perform a physical examination and indicate the tests to be performed or prescribe the appropriate treatment. After reviewing the suggestions provided by the tool, the doctor validates or adjusts the information, thereby reducing the margin of error in recording the data, which is treated strictly confidential and stored securely.
First pilots with high patient satisfaction
The main application scenario of the Scribe model focuses on the outpatient consultation context, although it can be applied in other scenarios within the hospital. In fact, since last June, this the model is operational in the trauma and orthopedic surgery department of the General University Hospital of Cataloniawith a high level of patient satisfaction. According to Dr. Sandra Quintela, traumatologist at the said center, “when this future model is implemented on a global scale, we will definitely be able to break down physical barriers to support patients throughout the process in a more humane way.”
In Madrid, the first steps have begun to be taken according to this model of care in different specialties such as the Pulmonology Service of the Jiménez Díaz Foundation University Hospital; in otolaryngology General University Hospital of Villalba; that of urology in Infante Elena University Hospital; or to the Cardiology Department of King Juan Carlos University Hospital.
“In these four centers, 90% of patients expressed their satisfaction with this new way of treating themselveshighlighting specific aspects such as the proximity of the doctor during the consultation, the agility of care or the new conditioning of the consultations where they were treated”, concludes the doctors Damián García Olmo and Emilio Calvo, respective heads of the departments of general and digestive surgery, and of orthopedic surgery and traumatology of the four hospitals mentioned above.
Scribe is already being implemented in new departments and units in different hospital centers of the Quirónsalud Group throughout Spain.with the aim of the project, by the beginning of 2025, being used by more than 8,000 doctors, which is equivalent to more than 60% of the company’s doctors.
