Valencia CF footballer Rafa Mir said on Monday that he “fully trusts the Administration of Justice” and apologized to his club, coaching staff, teammates and fans for “not respecting the strictness of the scheduled schedules” as a professional, after being arrested last Tuesday for alleged sexual assault.
“I have complete confidence in the administration of justice in this country, with which I have collaborated from the first minute to clarify the facts,” Rafa Mir said in a statement posted on his ‘X’ account, a week after he was accused of alleged sexual assault by two women.
The player, released, defended his “innocence”, reiterating the content of the statement of his lawyer Jaime Campaner, in which he said that “as soon as he was able to get to work on an equal footing with the accusations, the case “It took an important turn that shows how unfounded the complaint is.”
“For all this, I want to express my most sincere and deepest apologies to my club, Valencia CF, to the coaching staff, to my teammates and especially to the Valencian fans, for not having respected, even on a day off, the rigor of the hours that are expected of a professional and even more so after a start to the season far from our expectations,” wrote the man from Murcia with his family in Mallorca.
Mir, as a professional footballer, expressed his intention to put all his “energy” into “helping” his club and teammates. He also thanked his family for the “love and support” they have shown him “at all times.”
“Your love and your truth will make me overcome this traumatic situation that I am living,” he stressed, while announcing that, following the advice of his lawyer, he will work “in the courts and not in the media or on social networks.”
The Valencian footballer was arrested by the Civil Guard on Tuesday, September 3, following a complaint filed by a woman for alleged sexual assault.
The complaint was filed by a 25-year-old woman who claims to have been assaulted along with another woman at Rafa Mir’s private home. According to the complainant’s account, another man, also detained, allegedly participated in the events. After two nights in the dungeon, the player was released.
