Rafa Nadal delays his return: when will he play again?

With just over a week to go until the Laver Cup in Berlin (September 20-22), Rafa Nadal announced that it would ultimately not participate in the tournament which pits the best in Europe against those from the rest of the world.

The Spaniard, who was going to form a team with Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud, informed the organization of his decision.

I am really disappointed to tell you that I will not be able to participate in the Laver Cup in Berlin next week,” he said.

“It’s a team competition and to really support Team Europe I have to do my best for them and at the moment there are other players who can help the team to win,” he added.

“I have so many wonderful and emotional memories from my time at the Laver Cup and I really wanted to be with my colleagues team and with Bjorn in his last year as captain. I wish the European team good luck and will be cheering them on from afar,” he said.

Nadal, after his reappearance in the Bastad ATP 250 after getting lost Wimbledonplayed his last doubles match of Olympic Games with Carlos Alcaraz to unsubscribe later from the The US Open.

Rafa’s next scheduled appointment is Six Kings Slam Riyadh, which will be held in mid-October and where he will face Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev and Holger Rune.
