The emerald from the brooch of Shahzade Sadruddin Aga Khan, son of Aga Khan III, imam of the Ismaili-Nizari community, was sold at auction for a record price.
Oku.Az“CBS News” reported on this.
The diamond-encrusted emerald is currently the most expensive green stone in the world.
Many experts also highlight the unique shape of the stone: it is thin and flat. These characteristics should have a negative effect on the color of the emerald, but this is not the case with the prince’s jewelry: the bright green color is perfectly preserved.
Sadreddin Agha Khan is considered a direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad. He commissioned the jewelry from Cartier in 1960 for his fiancée Nina Sheila Dyer. The beautiful “Marquis” brooch is decorated with 20 special-cut diamonds and a 37-carat emerald.
