Rare poisonous snake from Africa is walking through Germany

A poisonous snake from Africa called the dyspholid has been detected in Germany.

This animal is typical of sub-Saharan Africa. It is a small snake that attacks from the top of trees, moving slowly along the branches or even hanging from them and swinging in the wind. The dispholid releases a very strong poison; without the administration of serum, an adult dies the next day.

The African snake was recorded in Schleswig-Holstein, near the border with Denmark. It was seen in the Niebüll area, the deputy mayor of Braderup confirmed to the Bild newspaper. Katie KrauseThe animal was identified from a photograph taken by a local resident. It has also been confirmed that the reptile’s first victim has already been identified: a dog bitten by a snake.

German authorities are also using dogs to search for the snake, but not yet effectively. Authorities recommend taking extreme precautions until it is found.

Previously EADaily reported that tiger mosquitoes (originating from tropical and subtropical regions of Southeast Asia) carrying fever had been discovered in Berlin.
