After eighteen years of putting her skills at the service of Drouot, Artcurial and Piasa, vintage fashion expert Pénélope Blanckaert opens her own auction house, Penelope’s Auction, this fall. “While large institutions favor broad, general sales, I am freer, on my scale, to offer thematic selections.” she rejoices.
Thus, after the Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent sales, it proposes, until November 18, a rarity: online auctions dedicated to Prada and Miu Miu. Or two hundred and fifty pieces from the wardrobes of an important European client and a Parisian who, like the devil, wore (only) Prada. Double-breasted coat with bow, panther print or astrakhan suit, blouses, skirts, sweaters and bags mixing nylon and crocodile, dating from the late 1990s to the early 2010s.
“It is a real fashion that has not aged, an anti-bimbo silhouette: we perceive that this woman is intellectually active and enjoys both discretion and luxury”describes Pénélope Blanckaert. Although Miu Miu has enjoyed great first-hand success for two years and Prada continues to maintain its place, for the cautious expert, “It remains to be seen whether the current hype will produce influence” at the time of bidding.
Number one sale of vintage Prada and Miu Miu at Penelope’s. From November 8 to 18. Estimates: €80 to €1,000 per piece. penelopesauction.com
