Relocation of Hamas leaders to Ankara: Turkish official makes statement

Reports about Hamas moving its office to Türkiye are false, a Turkish diplomatic source said.

This was reported by The Times Of Israel.

He clarified that members of the group are indeed visiting the country, but there is no talk of moving the leadership headquarters.

Last week, Qatari authorities announced that they would suspend their mediation efforts between Israel and Hamas aimed at a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of hostages. They stressed that such measures would only be resumed if there were serious intentions on both sides.

Türkiye, which does not recognize Hamas as a terrorist organization, often criticizes Israel for its military actions in Gaza and Lebanon. At the same time, some members of the Hamas leadership periodically visit Türkiye.

The denial followed a statement by an Arab diplomat who, on condition of anonymity, told The Times of Israel that senior Hamas officials had recently left Qatar and arrived in Türkiye.

He noted that this step is not unusual, as the group’s leaders traditionally spend a lot of time in Türkiye, if not Qatar.
