Yesterday, October 19, a train without passengers derailed on a train that connected the Chamartín and Atocha stations. Oscar Gomez Barbero, general manager of business and operations of Renfe, indicated during a press conference this morning that currently “there are 13,700 passengers affected and 22 trains which have stopped running.
When Gómez was asked how long this situation would last, the response was that “we don’t know how long “We will continue these operations, since the train is still in the tunnel.”
Concerning the circumstances which caused the derailmentRenfe indicated that “further details are not yet known and the commission of inquiry is working to I know why“.
Likewise, when the journalists present at the press conference held today at 12:30 p.m. at the gates of the Atocha station asked if the problem would be resolved tomorrow, Gómez replied that “we do not know what will happen tomorrow.”
