Israeli soldiers placed in the Gaza Strip acknowledged that they had systematically destroyed buildings on the pretext of building a buffer zone, according to the testimony reported by The Washington Post and collected by the Israeli group of human rights, Breaking the silence.
The report, according to Position, referenced Al MayadeenBased on dozens of reports by soldiers placed on the perimeter between October 2023 and August 2024, as well as an officer in the operating room during the design of the Buffer Zone.
The Israeli army said that most of the disaster – targeting homes, infrastructure and agricultural land – happened without an immediate threat to Israeli forces.
The report underlined, unlike many other battle zones in the Gaza Strip, the destruction of infrastructure and buildings on the perimeter appeared sometimes after the seizures of the area, when there was no real and immediate threat to the invaders.
Mechanical units in the Israeli army reported to destroy more than 3,500 buildings using explosives or bulldozers.
The Israeli army also acknowledged that they had been leveled in the orchards and plantations, they said, which were used by the Palestinians to plant wheat, barley, olives, almonds, strawberries and citrus fruits.
