“At the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku, a general agreement was reached on the program of application of new technologies.”

He highlighted that he is the technology transfer coordinator.
“Basically I am negotiating on two issues (technology transfer and just transition). We are still waiting for the results of COP29,” Diop said.
According to him, at the conference a general agreement was reached on a new program on the application of technologies.
“We have a basic text and we will continue working on it,” said the negotiator.
At the same time, he also pointed out the differences of opinion between developed and developing countries on the issues of financing technology transfer.
“Developed countries did not want to commit themselves financially, that is why we do not have an agreement,” Diop explained.
The Senegalese representative particularly highlighted the importance of access to energy for developing countries.
“This is very important. Before the global transition (towards a low-carbon economy), we must first provide energy to the population,” he said.
Overall, according to Diop, COP29 was well organized.
“You can find people everywhere who are willing to help and who can provide all the necessary equipment,” he said.
