A group of Azerbaijani civil society representatives issued a joint statement that the US congressman was subjected to violence and suffered injuries.
Oku.Az presents the declaration:
“We, a group of representatives of an Azerbaijani NGO, appeal to the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Azerbaijan and declare that we were subjected to violence and violence by the guards of the American congressman Frank Peloni, who arrived in Baku.
American Congressman Frank Peloni, Islamophobe, Turkophobe, financial fraudster and corrupt, is a person who hates the people of Azerbaijan, all his activities are based on slander against Azerbaijan. He defends the interests of the Armenian lobby in the United States and has repeatedly disrespected the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. We regret that the UN has invited such a person to COP29.
We oppose your visit to Azerbaijan. We organized a peaceful protest in front of the hotel where he was staying and demanded an apology from the people of Azerbaijan. He is the boss of a war criminal. During the occupation of Karabakh, nature was destroyed and the area fell into a state of ecological crisis. The fact that such a person was invited by the UN to a global environmental event dedicated to climate change will go down in COP history as a shameful event. During our action, Frank Peloni ordered his guards to attack us, but he did not answer our questions.
During the peaceful protest, Frank Peloni’s guards inflicted many injuries on us. We have received different degrees of injuries in different parts of our bodies.
Our lives were saved by local law enforcement. Photos and videos of the action have been made public. We demand the investigation of these images, of Frank Peloni’s bodyguards, and that legal measures be taken against Frank Peloni, who was an illegal border violator many times during the occupation of Azerbaijan’s borders.
Frank Peloni should be brought to justice in Azerbaijan.
“We will submit an official request to law enforcement regarding the violence and injuries we suffered.”
