Rescuers have discovered the body of the 18th person killed in the crash of a Mi-8 helicopter in Kamchatka, according to the Emergency Situations Ministry’s Telegram channel.
“In Kamchatka, rescue teams from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations discovered another body. The search for four people and the black box continues.” – says the message.
The Mi-8, which was en route from a landing site in the Vachkazhets ridge to the village of Nikolaevka in the Elizovsky district on August 31, did not reach its destination. According to preliminary information, there may have been 19 passengers and three crew members on board. The Ministry of Emergency Situations later reported that 17 bodies were found at the crash site.
The Kamchatka Transport Investigation Department of the Eastern MSUT of the Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case under Article 263 of the Criminal Code “Violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of air transport.”
