The residents of Raval are complaining. The streets of this district of Barcelona are full of garbage. “It’s scandalous… and it’s everyday”, “incivility” or “there are some neighbors who don’t have this education when it comes to throwing away”
This problem, they say, has gotten worse over the last year: “What we can’t do is allocate resources as if they were infinite, because the message is that you can dirty what you want, because then they will come and clean up.”
A cleaning in the streets of Raval that we could see this morning. An image that contrasts with the usual mountains of garbage and debris. “What happens when you see that someone hasn’t done something well and you save two minutes, well look, no one sees me, I’ll do it too,” says a neighbor.
It is for this reason that different neighborhood associations organize demonstrations, hanging garbage bags and jugs of water in the streets or placing banners like these on the doors of buildings.
“I don’t see a solution. A fine would be the only way for people to see that it’s wrong” adds another neighbor.
Residents are demanding more support from the municipality so that the streets of Raval are clean again. “Let’s let the town hall react and not leave us aside like they do”
