Residents of Yeni Guneshli complain: “We have applied 36 times, but no one is interested”

Residents of the Yeni Guneshli “Q” residential area, building number 20, Surakhani district of the capital, complain about the poor conditions in the area.

A group of citizens who contacted Qafqazinfo said that the building was given over for housing in 1991.

For 33 years it has hardly been repaired:

“We have been living here for years. The building is neglected, in poor condition and in bad condition. It is falling apart everywhere. We have submitted exactly 36 applications. But no one comes and takes an interest, and no one repairs it. There are no facilities to sit in the courtyard. There is not a single seat. Our children. Where should they go out to play? There are no conditions. The streets are full of potholes.

In addition, residents complain that the building’s elevators are not working:

“Whenever a problem arises, we as residents raise money and try to solve it. But now it needs to be solved in a fundamental way. For this, 25,000 manats are needed. Our budget is not enough for this. These problems exist not only in our building, but also in the neighboring buildings. There is one building in which the elevator has not worked for years. After all, there are children and elderly people here, and people suffer when entering and leaving their homes.”

We sent a request to the Surakhani District Executive Authority on this issue. The institution informed that since the Yeni Guneshli “Q” residential area, building No. 20 is in the hands of the Housing Construction Cooperative, the maintenance, improvement and repair of the building is within the competence of the MTK.

We contacted MTK “Kainat-1” regarding the complaints. The company reported that the elevator has already been repaired and is in working order:

“The elevator caught fire, it didn’t work for two days. But it was repaired and is now in use. This is an old cooperative building. The yard needs to be landscaped, there should be entertainment and a place for children to sit, but the residents living here are poor and can’t even help to pay for the garbage. Citizens should paint the top of the building, but also all the MTKs of Yeni Guneshli. The Cabinet of Ministers and the District Executive Authority, but they haven’t received a positive response yet. We have no funds. The price of one elevator is 35,000 manats, but no excavation work has been carried out on the surrounding roads.
