In twenty -one, the episode “Mauerecho” Marie and Chipi discuss two very different, but equally darkest topics: the possible again forced military service and feminist debates about the new cover of the album from Sabrina Carpenter. Both topics are currently causing hot discussions – in society, in the media, and especially on social networks.
The first part is devoted to the plans of Boris Pistorius to recalculate military service. The voluntary model is originally intended. However, if there are not enough volunteers, the obligation is not excluded. According to the Forsa survey, only 29 % of children from 18 to 29 years old advocate again for the again forced military service, while it is 66 % for more than 60 years. Where does this big refusal in the registration generation come from?
Marie says: it is easier to maintain mandatory military service if you yourself do not touch it. She herself could not imagine that she went to Bundeswehr. Chipi determines the difference in generation. As one of the last years that have still been patronized, he had to resolve the issue at least once in his life: would I go to the federal government? Mandatory military service was canceled before the start of his military service. He says that he would still refuse.
At that time, however, the situation with the security policy also differed: “We grew up during the world. But now I have the feeling that we must wake up a little in Germany and realize that what we have not done for many years, and now we do not do this. This means that we must protect ourselves, ”says Chipi. Marie agrees with him and still thinks that compulsory military service is an extra freedom of human rights. It is important for her that, based on volunteering, you are first trying to find enough new people for the Bundeswehr.
Germany on the way to militarization?
They are wondering about the warning about growing militarization in Germany, which acts mainly on the left -circles. Nevertheless, it should always be weighed, how much update is actually necessary, especially if there are so many billions that can skip in another place in defense. “There are also other interests in society that are necessary for the stability of democracy in the other way. I think this should also keep the scales, ”says Marie.
In the pop -cultural part of the podcast chipia and Marie, they talk about the new cover of the album of Sabrina Carpenter. This contradiction is caused on the Internet. On the cover you can see: Carpenter knelt down in a short black dress on all fours on the floor and looks into the camera with a lustful look. You pull the man on the hair – which is not entirely noticeable, as if he brought her to the occasion.
Feminism in pop
On the one hand, she is accused of reproducing with the image of a patriarchal stereotype, which is inappropriate against the background of Trump’s presidency and accusations of cruelty against rapper P. Didi. On the other hand, he boasts to represent independent, female sexuality and satirically cope with sexist role -playing images.
Marie feels that it recalls the feminist debates that have been held since the 1970s: is there a self-determined woman and heterosexual sexuality in Patriarchate, or is it possible only with a reproduction of a male request? It is good that this discussion will be carried out, but it wonders if Tikkoc is a suitable place for productive discourse. Rather, we are talking about working on pop stars, such as Sabrina Carpenter, than negotiations on these issues.
Pop artists rarely judge on the basis of their art.
Chipi is also added to Lil Kim, Nicky Minaj, Katya Krasavitsa and Shirin David again and again. He wonders: how much sexism is in these debates, when women are repeatedly prescribed how they need to live their femininity? Marie creates a thesis that pop artists, in particular, are rarely judged on the basis of their art, but rather what they represent as a person. The setting plays an important role in pop music. It is noteworthy that Sabrina Carpenter does not trust that the provocation of this discussion was a conscious artistic solution. She advocates to perceive pop stars seriously as artists, and then evaluates whether artistic decisions were made – also from a feminist point of view.
