I completely agree with my colleague Maruja Torres: the more people die, the more I want to live. I am a vitalist: I do not believe in the existence of another life, so we must take advantage of this one in all the wonderful things it can offer us, and that is no small thing. But, like Maruja and so many others, I have always included my Epicureanism in a commitment to collective causes. And I must admit that, socially, the current times are not very happy. The always tortuous advance towards higher levels of liberty, equality and fraternity has been replaced by a return to the Middle Ages, albeit a highly technological one.
The law of the strongest reigns again in an obscene manner. In our very Mediterranean sea. Israel, the economic, military and technological tyrant of the Middle East, does what it wants in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria and even Iran. We see it every day on TV and nothing happens. War crimes? Crimes against humanity? Well yes, a lot of honor. Let the International Criminal Court place its arrest warrant against Netanyahu wherever it can.
