Revolt of the machines: robot vacuum cleaners began to abuse their owners and chase their pets

In several cities in the United States, robot vacuum cleaners from the Chinese company “Ecovacs” have begun to behave in a very strange and frightening way. Then, the “Deebot X2” series smart devices suddenly started chasing pets and shouting racist insults through their internal speakers.

Oku.Az“ABC News” reported on this.

One of the victims, Daniel Swenson, a Minnesota attorney, said his robot vacuum cleaner began screaming obscenities loudly in the middle of the night. Another victim said the device scared the dog away from the house.

The company “Ecovacs” investigated the incidents and discovered that the robot vacuum cleaners had been hacked. The criminals were able to take control of the devices thanks to a loophole in the security system. The experts were able to determine the hacker’s IP address and prevent his access to the robots.
