These comments come after Lobato appeared this Tuesday before the Assembly to criticize his party colleagues for the “lynching” of which he considers himself a victim. During this intervention, however, he avoided resigning.
“It is clear that he must regain the trust of the activists, those who today made him the secretary general of all Madrid secretaries,” declared the former Minister of Industry. In the eyes of the socialist leader of the capital, the motion of confidence to which Lobato must submit “must develop in the area where the socialists speak clearly about the situation of the party, which is the regional executive committee”. Not only did he ask for it to take place, but he asked “that it be convened in an extraordinary manner as soon as possible”.
“Many of us, activists, are asking him not only for explanations, but to restore his confidence,” insisted Maroto. The minister justified “the urgency of convening this regional executive committee” by the importance of listening to the bases: “Let them listen to the members of the party so that they know what the scope is and what we feel.”
The controversy broke out a few days ago when it was learned that the PSOE spokesperson in the Madrid Assembly had received a message from Pilar Sánchez Acerachief of staff of Oscar Lopezthen chief of staff of the President of the Government, Pedro Sanchez.
