The blanket of water that fell this Saturday morning in Madrid not only forced the cancellation of part of the military parade, but also caused incidents of all kinds, from temporary road closures to power outages throughout the region. The 112 Emergency Service of the Community of Madrid managed a total of 256 rain-related incidents in just four hours, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
During this period, members of the Community of Madrid firefighters had to carry out 62 interventionsmainly due to flooding in basements and garages and puddles.
The rains generally affected the entire region, triggering the yellow alert in the Sur, Vegas and Oeste-Madrid regions, as well as in the metropolitan area and the Henares area, between 11:00 a.m. and 12:59 p.m., and in the areas de la Sierra, until 8:59 p.m. The front entered from the southwest area and advanced towards the Henares area. In the case of the capital, some 40 interventions linked to the formation of puddles, tree branches or facades with elements at risk of falling, none of them are relevant, a Madrid emergency spokesperson told Europa Press.

In Alcobendas, a strong waterspout affected the Paseo de la Chopera tunnel, the Amura tunnel, the Fuencarral highway, Avenida de Monte de Valdelatas or some streets in the urbanization area such as Camino de la Fuente or Rafael Nadal.

The rain also forced the Community of Madrid to cancel several free concerts planned for this Saturday as part of the cultural programming organized for Hispanidad 2024.
