Rocío Monasterio issues her deputy certificate amid criticism from Abascal and Vox for the lack of internal democracy

Rocío Monasterio has just registered her resignation as a Vox deputy in the Madrid Assembly, after yesterday Wednesday the party’s general secretary, at the request of Santiago Abascal, informed her of her sudden dismissal. Monasterio appeared before the press at the regional parliament to announce that she was resigning from her mandate as deputy, amid criticism from Vox and Abascal for the party’s lack of internal democracy. “Today, I am not a trusted person of the secretary general and the president,” he explained.

In the corridors of the Assembly of Madrid, this Thursday morning, the wait was greater than in other plenary sessions, with one eye on Rocío Monasterio, who the previous afternoon had been dismissed from office by Santiago Abascal from the head of Vox in Madrid. Monasterio participated in the monitoring session, as he is still parliamentary spokesperson, and then, as usual, he appeared before the press.

In the press release published Wednesday afternoon by Vox España, it is reported in just 14 lines that Monasterio was replaced by José Antonio Fúster at the head of the party in Madrid, without giving any explanation as to the reasons.

The press release indicates that “Rocío Monasterio will continue to be the spokesperson for the Vox parliamentary group in which the party thanked her, she will remain dedicated exclusively to political activity.”

“As president of Vox Madrid, Monasterio managed to implement the training throughout the territory of the province, becoming the only political force that, in the last municipal elections, presented its candidacy in one hundred percent of the municipalities.”

What is not said in the press release is that with Rocío Monasterio at the head of Vox in Madrid, this party ended up occupying an unimportant position in the regional Parliament and in Madrid City Hall, compared to the absolute majorities of the People’s Party, therefore, its political role and importance fell to a minimum.
