Rodri, with no deadline to return and the hole he leaves at City after breaking his cruciate ligament: “He is irreplaceable”

He Manchester City confirmed this Wednesday the serious injury to the right knee suffered by the Spanish midfielder Rodrigue Hernandez during Sunday’s match against Arsenal.

The Spanish midfielder left the pitch in the first half against Arsenal after a bad move to his right knee. Rodri visited several specialists in Spain and on Wednesday the club confirmed that he had torn the cruciate ligament in his knee.

“Manchester City can confirm that Rodri has suffered a ligament injury to his right knee. The injury occurred in the first half of this weekend’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the Premier League. The midfielder has travelled to Spain to consult with a number of specialists, following initial tests in Manchester to determine the extent of the injury and prognosis. “Everyone at City wishes him a speedy recovery,” City said in a statement.

“We don’t know the definitive diagnosis, but he will be out for a long time. Some opinions think it won’t be that long, but unfortunately he was injured. I don’t know for how long, because we are still waiting for the final calls (from the doctors) and what operation will be necessary,” Pep Guardiola said on Tuesday after eliminating the Watford in the League Cup.

“We didn’t want this, but we can still have a good season. I have confidence in my players and I have to find a solution. Rodri is irreplaceable and the team will play without the best midfielder in the world for a long, long time. “It’s a blow for us, but this is football and my task is to find a solution,” Guardiola added.
