Rostec engineers successfully modernized Groza communication stations

The Ruselectronics holding company, part of the Rostec state corporation, has begun shipping modernized Groza tropospheric communication stations with an updated high-speed digital modem based on neural networks, the Rostec press service reported.

With the help of the updated “Groza” it is possible to ensure communication within a radius of 210 km, even in hard-to-reach places. The data transfer rate is 45.5 Mbit/s.

“To organize a tropospheric communication line, at least two transceiver stations are needed. The antenna with a diameter of 150 cm can be placed on the roof of a building, on a mobile mast or on a tripod. The solution includes a digital modem that, using neural networks, can learn during operation and isolate a useful signal from background noise.” — specified in Ruselectronics.

Engineers managed to achieve a noticeable increase in speed in the modernized “Groza” thanks to integrated information processing algorithms.

“The equipment is characterized by low power consumption, ease of deployment and operation, which is an important advantage for the consumer. In addition, tropospheric communication is a cost-effective alternative to satellite communication, as it does not require renting a satellite channel.” — the general director of the Radiosvyaz nuclear power plant has already clarified this. Rinat Galeev.

The new “Groza” will be used not only in mountainous, inaccessible and sparsely populated areas, but also on highways and railways, and in remote industrial areas.
