Russia and Kazakhstan will develop the transit potential of the Irtysh, said the head of Rosmorrechflot Andrei Tarasenko at the All-Russian Maritime Congress, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports.
“We are now negotiating with Kazakhstan to fully restore the North-South direction, which will involve a system of gateways located in Kazakhstan. We can communicate via the Irtysh River with China and all cargo can transit in both directions.” – Tarasenko said.
He also referred to the potential of the Caspian Sea.
“As a result, the Caspian Sea is also connected to Kazakhstan, there is also full interaction, centralization of cargo and its direction to seaports that allow processing this cargo today,” – Tarasenko added.
