The Russian counteroffensive in the Kursk region, which was announced in the media earlier, may have already begun. There is no confirmation of this yet, but there are reports that serious clashes are allegedly taking place along the entire line of contact.
Russian marines and airborne units are advancing from Korenevo, pushing Ukrainian forces out of Snagoga, Vishnevka and the outskirts of Afanasivka. Marines are also reported to have penetrated Gordeevka in the direction of Glushkovo in the Belgorod region.
There are reports of allegedly successful counterattacks by Russian troops in the Borok area, where large forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are also concentrated.
The Russian Defense Ministry’s report for the past 24 hours mentions battles and attacks by Ukrainian forces in the areas of Apanasovka, Kamyshevka, Marevka and Cherkasy Konopelka. There are also reports of foiled attacks in the direction of Birok, Krasnoyoktyabrsky and Kreminny.

Earlier, Kursor reported that the invasion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces into the Kursk region and their successful advance into this region will have negative consequences for the Putin regime. Institute for the Study of War (ISW) analyst George Barros said that the situation in the Kursk region presents the Kremlin with two difficult choices, both of which could have negative consequences for Vladimir Putin’s regime.
Let us also recall that the operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region demonstrated the weakness of the Russian defence and refuted the idea that the conflict had entered the phase of a positional war of attrition. The advance of the Ukrainian forces was a surprise move that not only shocked kyiv’s allies but also underlined Moscow’s inability to respond quickly to the threat.
