The Russian Embassy in Iran has expressed its condolences over the deaths of several people in an explosion at a coal mine in the northeast of the country.
“The Russian Embassy in Iran expresses its deepest condolences for the tragic consequences of the explosion at the Tabas coal mine in South Khorasan province. We wish a speedy recovery to all the injured. We hope for the rescue of the miners who remain underground,” – the Russian diplomatic mission reported on its Telegram channel.
On September 21, at around 9:00 p.m. local time, an explosion occurred in a coal mine in the city of Tabas. According to Tasnim news agency, the explosion occurred due to the release of methane in one of the tunnels. As a result of the incident, at least 50 people were killed and 20 were injured.
