Russia remains the main investor in the Belarusian economy

This was reported today by the National Statistics Committee of Belarus.

It is reported that the main investors of the republic’s organizations were business entities from the Russian Federation (69.7% of all incoming investments), Cyprus (7.8%) and the United Arab Emirates (6.8%) . At the same time, foreign direct investment inflows amounted to $4 billion, or 73.7% of all incoming foreign investment.

At the same time, in January-September, the republic’s organizations sent investments abroad worth $3.6 billion, of which 90.2% went to business entities of the Russian Federation. Direct investment represented 79.9% of all investments directed abroad.

Let us remember that Belarus is subject to strict Western sanctions, which means it is deprived of the opportunity to attract investments from there. In this sense, Minsk and Moscow have strengthened the integration processes in the Union State in recent years. In particular, countries have begun to implement large-scale work on import substitution.
