Russia speeds up construction of mobile nuclear bomb shelters after Putin’s doctrinal change

Russia has begun mass-producing mobile shelters capable of protecting against various threats, including shock waves and radiation from a nuclear explosion. This is according to the country’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, which presents the KUB-M model as a guarantee of safety for 48 hours against these and other dangers, natural and man-made.

Among the risks listed are shrapnel ejected by the explosion of conventional weapons, debris from collapsed buildings, some deadly chemicals and fires. The KUB-M has the appearance of a reinforced shipping container and consists of two modules: a room for 54 people and a technical block. Other modules could be added if necessary.

What the authorities have not done is link this initiative to an open crisis, even if it coincides with the reaction to the latest decision of the Biden administration, which already allows Ukraine to use American missiles at long range to attack military positions in Russia. . And not only that. As reported by several international media outlets citing Ukrainian army sources, kyiv has already launched an attack with these missiles against Russian soil. The Russian Ministry of Defense, in fact, claims to have intercepted five of them who were heading towards the Bryansk regionsupposedly to eliminate a military warehouse.

Although there is no official confirmation from Ukraine, nor from Washington, it is believed to be a response from kyiv to months of escalation by the invasion forces, which struck on Sunday last of cities and strategic infrastructures with more than 200 missiles and drones in one hour. many of them are Iranian-made and have already integrated thousands of professional North Korean, Cuban and Nicaraguan soldiers into their fighting ranks.

But above all, Russia tells the story of its bomb bunkers after Vladimir Putin approved a new official doctrine that lowers the threshold for Russia’s use of nuclear weapons. “Aggression by any state belonging to a military coalition (bloc, alliance) against the Russian Federation and (or) its allies is considered aggression of the coalition as a whole,” it now notes.

These last two clauses are seen by analysts as a clear warning to the United States and NATO, in case they decide to become directly involved in the conflict in Ukraine. Russia can also use nuclear weapons in the event of a “massive attack” with fighter jetscruise missiles, hypersonics, drones and other unmanned vehicles that violate the country’s airspace. And, for the first time, the document refers not only to enemy aviation and hypersonic devices, but also to drones, an instrument of war that has gained great popularity in recent years.

“The mobile shelter is a multifunctional structure that protects people from various threats, including natural disasters and man-made accidents,” say its creators, calling it “an important step towards improving citizen security” . The shelter, they add, can be easily transported on a truck and connected to the water supply, even deployed in the vast permafrost of northern Russia.
