Russia will not cancel zero tax on Georgian wines in 2024

According to the executive director of the Association of Winegrowers and Winemakers of Russia (AVVR), Alexei Plotnikov, the country could return to the issue of abolishing zero duties on Georgian wines in 2025, but not in 2024. TASS reports this today, November 8.

Plotnikov’s opinion was expressed at the Russian Wine Forum.

“By 2024, we are definitely not faced with the question of revising the zero-duty regime for Georgia. In 2025, we will probably address this issue again.” – believes the expert.

Alexey Plotnikov also recalled the proposal that had been made to him earlier by the organization he represented.

“It was a decision of the board, recorded in the minutes. Colleagues from the Ministry of Agriculture who are part of the board of directors abstained from voting on this decision. However, all other board members voted unanimously to propose that the government consider abolishing the zero tax regime.” – he clarified.

The Association also received a response to this request: the Ministry of Agriculture said: “now is not the time”.
