Russian companies manage to operate successfully in Qatar, despite the difficulties associated with cross-border payments, insurance and logistics. This was stated by the Russian ambassador to Qatar, Dmitry Dogadkin, in an interview with TASS.
He noted that “those companies that show real interest in entering the Qatari market and finding partners in the emirate are managing to do business successfully under current conditions.” Among the factors limiting cooperation between the two countries, Dogadkin highlighted “Qatari businessmen’s fears of falling under secondary sanctions, as well as difficulties in making mutual payments and related insurance and logistics issues.”
“In this context, the organization of settlements in national currencies is relevant. Work is being done in this direction,” – highlighted the head of the Russian diplomatic mission in Qatar.
Dogadkin also drew attention to the fact that entry into the Qatari market is not always economically justified for Russian companies.
“We note with satisfaction that Russian companies are making their presence here increasingly visible. However, in some cases Russian economic operators admit that the local market is not big enough for them. “There is interest, there is potential, but the volume of demand calls into question the viability of advancing the labor-intensive process to enter the foreign market.” – said.
