Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided to increase the personnel strength of the Russian Armed Forces to 2,389,130 units, including 1.5 million servicemen; the corresponding decree is published on the website of the official publication of legal acts.
“In accordance with Article 4 of the Federal Law of May 31, 1996 No. 61-F3 “0b Defense” I decide: 1. To establish the personnel strength of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the amount of 2,389,130 units, including 1,500,000 servicemen. 2. The Government of the Russian Federation shall ensure the allocation to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation of budgetary allocations from the federal budget necessary for the implementation of paragraph 1 of this decree,” the decree says.
As reported EADaily The president signed a similar decree on December 1, 2023. At that time, the size of the Russian army was 2,209,130 people, of which 1,320,000 were military personnel.
The new decree will come into force on December 1, 2024.
