Servicemen from the 201st Russian Military Base (RMB) stationed in Tajikistan visited lonely elderly people on the International Day of Older Persons. This is reported by Sputnik Tajikistan citing the press service of the Central Military District of Russia.
Pensioners received humanitarian aid packages, which included non-perishable food products such as cereals, pasta, preserves, salt, flour and sugar, as well as household chemicals and some medicines.
“In addition to providing assistance, unit representatives spoke to the elderly, finding out how they were doing and if they needed help.” – says the information.
Previously, servicemen from the 201st RVB provided humanitarian assistance to Afghan veterans. The event was organized on the basis of the Tajik public organization “People Disabled from War in Afghanistan”.
In total, during this year, Russian servicemen and their families donated more than 5 tons of food to the boarding house for the elderly and disabled “Batosh”, to the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary in St. Petersburg. . St. Nicholas Cathedral for low-income parishioners and also provided constant assistance to war and labor veterans.
