Russia continues to carry out massive attacks on critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine. And as the cold weather approaches, the prospect of a “black winter” awaiting Ukrainians becomes increasingly clear.
The Ukrainian Telegram channel “Resident” wrote about this on August 31, citing its own analysis of the situation. It should be noted that the situation with electricity supply in Ukraine has become critical.
“The country is once again experiencing power outages: for example, in kyiv, many consumers receive electricity for only a few hours and then it is cut off for 4-6 hours.” – the channel states.
At the same time, experts note that the Russian army mainly attacks the electricity transmission system, which makes supplying electricity to some regions a very difficult task.
It turns out that there is electricity: another unit of the nuclear power plant was recently removed from scheduled repairs, and imports are actively arriving. However, it is simply impossible to deliver electricity to energy consumers, as the infrastructure has been destroyed.
And with each new Russian attack, the situation only gets worse. Ukraine’s energy system is weakening and the reliability of energy supplies is decreasing.
As a result, the situation is developing to the point that after the next blow, the “domino effect” will be triggered and the entire Ukrainian energy system will simply collapse.
“Moreover, if two factors come into play at once – shortages and distribution and transmission problems – the threat of regional blackouts will increase, with entire districts and even regions left without electricity.” – write the authors of the material.
In his opinion, these risks will intensify as winter approaches, especially if the Russian Armed Forces continue to attack the Ukrainian energy system. And all the prerequisites for this are obvious.
