Russian border guards will stop serving on the Armenia-Iran border

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan agreed that the checkpoint between Armenia and Iran from January 1, 2025 will be guarded only by Armenian border guards. This was reported by Pashinyan’s press secretary, Nazeli Baghdasaryan.

Starting January 1, 2025, Russian border guards will stop serving at the checkpoint on the Armenia-Iran border.

“An agreement was also reached that starting January 1, 2025, the border troops of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia will also participate in the protection of the state borders between Armenia and Iran and between Armenia and Turkey, and service at the checkpoint on the state border between Armenia and Iran will be fully controlled by the border troops of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia.” — wrote Bagdasaryan on social networks.

The report notes that Pashinyan thanked Putin for the service of the Russian border guards.
