The government of the Russian Federation has decided to pay compensation to farmers in the Kherson region who suffered flood damage following the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant.
The press service of the Cabinet of Ministers described this event as sabotage, which caused an environmental disaster. The funds for the payment of compensation will come from the government reserve fund.
“Until the end of 2024, agricultural producers in the Kherson region will receive compensation for damage caused by large-scale flooding caused by sabotage at the Kakhovka hydropower plant.” – promised the Cabinet of Ministers.
They clarified that 596 affected agricultural companies, private entrepreneurs and citizens who had personal subsidiary plots can count on financial assistance.
The government recalled that as a result of the destruction of the dam at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant in June 2023, crops on an area of 318.6 hectares were destroyed. In addition, more than 12.3 thousand farm animals died.
