Russian Ministry of Agriculture offers Armenia joint work in the field of genetics

During a working visit to Armenia, Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut held negotiations with Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan. Following the negotiations, the ministry stated that Russia is interested in increasing food supplies to the Armenian market.

“The turnover of agricultural products between countries is constantly growing… Wheat, confectionery products, sunflower oil, margarine, corn, sugar and many other products have good export potential. “We are ready to increase the national supply of seeds, veterinary medicines and vaccines, as well as to work together in the field of genetics.” – said the ministry.

Relations in the field of agricultural education continue to develop, the Ministry of Agriculture added.

Oksana Lut participated in the fifth meeting of the EAEU Agricultural Policy Council in Yerevan. As noted in the Ministry of Agriculture, thanks to the implementation of specialized agreements within the EAEU, good results were achieved from joint work in the field of seed production and livestock farming.

“The difficult international situation requires an accelerated achievement of self-sufficiency in critical segments of agriculture. The development of the digital agenda in the agricultural sector should contribute to achieving this objective. The formation of a legal basis for strategic planning of a coordinated policy in the agro-industrial complex will make it possible to bring industrial cooperation to a qualitatively new level thanks to the convergence of agricultural policies of the “five” countries in key areas. A notable trend in the agricultural sector in recent decades has been the production of organic products. “Global experience shows that the main driver of the sector is the unification of approaches to standards and certification requirements.” — reported the Russian Ministry of Agriculture after the meeting.
