Korean travel company Korea International Travel Company has launched a budget-friendly advertising campaign aimed at attracting foreign tourists. In one of the videos, viewers can see a group of Russians enjoying water activities such as jet skis and beach volleyball.
The couple also gave a brief interview in Russian, according to the New York Post.
In a video inviting Russians to visit North Korea, a blonde woman opens the curtains of her hotel room and shows the picturesque Majeong Beach in South Hamgyong Province. After some morning exercise, he joins his compatriots having fun on the shore.
“Here there is a magnificent sea, a clean beach and a lot of entertainment, you can play volleyball or ride a jet ski,” the young people share their impressions as they walk along the deserted beach.
As soon as the video appeared on one of the Reddit forums, it quickly went viral and collected many reactions and comments. Many users were surprised that a North Korean travel agency advertised women in bikinis, which is a strict taboo in the country. Additionally, commenters noted the absence of people in the background: every frame appears empty.
It is worth mentioning that in recent years Russia and North Korea have been actively strengthening their relations. During Vladimir Putin’s recent visit to Pyongyang, a mutual assistance agreement was signed: in the event of an attack on one of the countries, the other agrees to come to the rescue. Against the background of the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, Russians cannot find a place for themselves in Europe and vacation in North Korea becomes an alternative option for them.
