The decision by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) to exclude Russian scientists from its projects clearly demonstrates how politicized global science has become.
This was stated within the framework of the IV Congress of Young Scientists by the Assistant to the President of Russia Andrei Fursenko.
“This is a demonstration of how politicized all areas are today, including science.” — quotes RIA Novosti.
Fursenko noted that such an atmosphere is not conducive to global scientific progress and should cause regret among representatives of the world scientific community.
Recall that CERN planned to suspend cooperation with approximately 500 specialists linked to Russia as of November 30 of this year. Also, not all of them are citizens of Russia, but they work in Russian institutions.
Previously EADaily reported that around 90 scientists out of 500 working in Russian institutes with CERN, with whom cooperation will end on November 30, changed institutes and will continue working with CERN.
