During the period from January to September, Russia’s foreign trade balance increased to 114.9 billion dollars (+11.55% compared to the same period in 2023). The monetary value of exports during the same period increased to 318.2 billion dollars (+1.3 billion dollars), as follows from official data of the Federal Customs Service of Russia.
At the same time, imports fell to $203.3 billion (-$10.6 billion). That is, Russia’s total commercial turnover for the nine months of 2024 decreased by 1.75% to a total of $521.5 billion.
If we consider in more detail the structure of foreign trade, exports to European countries decreased by 24.32%. Imports decreased by 8.75%. At the same time, Russia increased exports to Asian countries by 6.42%, reducing purchases from Asia by 3.14%. If we talk about the African continent, exports to this region increased by 17.95%, imports decreased by 3.85%.
The largest share of the overall structure of Russian exports was occupied by mineral products – an increase of 3.13%, up to 197.9 billion dollars. In second place in the export ranking are metals and their products, with a decrease of 6.24%, to 45.1 billion dollars. In third place are agricultural products, with -4.02% and a total of 31,000 million dollars.
