Sacrilege: Restaurateur must remove Ossetian chicken pies from menu

The public organization Styr Nykhas has asked St. Petersburg restaurateur Kirill Baryshev to remove Ossetian pies with pork and chicken from the menu of his trading company Gifts of Ossetia.

The leader of Styr Nykhasa, Zelim Vataev, called such cakes a sacrilege and an insult to the feelings of the Ossetian people.

“Before preparing national Ossetian dishes, we recommend that you consult with representatives of the people whose culture you represent with your products… Your marketing innovations have nothing to do with Ossetian pies… I ask you to adjust your advertising brochure, excluding products uncharacteristic of Ossetian cuisine,” quotes one letter to Ossetia News.
