Armenia has started negotiations to purchase “Su-30MKI” fighter jets from India.
Oku.AzCommenting on the issue, Sadık Akyar, retired colonel of the Turkish Armed Forces, head of the Department of International Relations of the American University of Northern Cyprus Kyrenia, director of the GAU Security Research Center, expert on security issues , said that due to the Ukraine war, Armenia was unable to obtain the fighter jets ordered by Russia and headed to India:
“Armenia is trying to strengthen its Air Force and Ground Forces. So far, official Yerevan has signed contracts with France and India and acquired some weapons systems. The country’s Air Force has four Su-30s (codename NATO “Flanker”) COVID It was given by Russia before the 2019 pandemic, but after the start of the Karabakh war the Sukhoi company did not deliver the planes to Armenia Meetings have begun with India on various missile systems and. meetings are now being held on the Su- 30SM Aircraft.
Akyar stated that as a result of the activities carried out, Azerbaijan has become the strongest state in the field of HHM in the region, and it is highly unlikely that Armenia will reach this level:
“When we look at the current level of the Azerbaijani Air Force against these attempts by Armenia, we must especially mention the signing of a 1.6 billion dollar contract between Baku and Islamabad some time ago. According to the contract, Pakistan will supply more than 60 JF-17 C Block 3 fighter aircraft to Azerbaijan. Although they are jointly produced by China and Pakistan, Western systems are also used. At the same time, the use of avionics systems by them is also discussed. of Turkish companies “IDEF-2023”. In Turkey TUSAS signed an agreement between Azerbaijan’s “Su-25” aircraft, which will further strengthen those aircraft.
If we take all this into account, we will see how many steps behind Armenia there are due to the current situation, strength and signed agreements of Azerbaijan. Because Azerbaijan is modernizing the Su-25, on the other hand it began supplying aircraft from Pakistan, and Turkey is a partner in the KAAN fighter jet program, which is being worked on. Another advantage of Azerbaijan in this matter is that it has a large number of armed and unarmed improvised explosive devices purchased from both Turkey and Israel. “Even now, Azerbaijan has the strongest air power with them and is protecting their advantage.”
