The Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration will inform MPs this week about the projections of the Aging reportthe European Commission report that disagrees with the government’s forecasts regarding the sustainability of pensions on aspects such as the public disbursement of this item or the deficit of the system in the coming decades, as revealed in the spring document. It will have to justify the last major reform, prepared by former minister José Luis Escriva, and the differences between the ministry’s forecasts and those of Brussels.
He will do so at the request of the PP deputy of Galicia, Miguel Tellado. It will be the second time in less than a week that he appears before the deputies to report on the activity of his portfolio, since last Thursday he also appeared before the Permanent Commission of the Toledo Pact after the latest changes adopted in early retirement for reasons of subjection or retirement that allows to combine salary and pension.
The minister will have to address the issues raised by the rest of the parliamentary groups on the occasion of the report on ageing, which includes a significant increase in pension spending over the coming decadesThe minister will also report on the “serious immigration crisis”, at the request of the people.
Saiz must win the support of the Lower House to carry out his latest reform, which includes changes to active retirement or partial mode, an agreement supported by unions and employers. The consensus in the social dialogue, however, does not guarantee the support of political groups, as the social partners fear.
Last week, some government partners already expressed their dissatisfaction with the content and scope of the reform, as expressed in the Toledo Pact. The political groups will have the opportunity to modify the articles if Social Security does not urgently proceed with the legislative change.
