This Tuesday, Valero inaugurated its new Honey Interpretation Centerplanned as part of the actions of the Sierra de Francia Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan. What it proposes “is a commitment to recover the beekeeping heritage of the Sierra de Francia and at the same time to become a new tourist reference in the region”, declared the Foral Deputation of Salamanca.

The public presentation of this new resource (which took place in two phases, the conditioning of the building and the musealization of its interior) was led by the president of the provincial institution, Javier Iglesias, accompanied by the subdelegate of the government in Salamanca . , Rosa López, and the mayor of the municipality, Demetrio Canete, as well as provincial deputies, mayors and representatives of entities and associations of the Sierra de Francia. To house this new center, municipal property was developed with an area of ​​105 m² and with a cost of 117,500 euros.

This interpretation center, which is added to those already existing in Mogarraz, dedicated to Serrano embroidery; San Esteban de la Sierra and Aceite; Santibáñez de la Sierra and the Serrana dance; the imminent one of Villanueva del Conde al Vino and that of the Space of La Cereza de Madroñal aim to promote rural and educational tourism, offering visitors the opportunity to discover the process of honey production and arouse their interest in the world of bees. large exhibition hall or children’s play “The Labyrinth of the Hive”.

The Provincial Council emphasized that “honey is not only a healthy product but also of great economic value” and that therefore, beekeeping generates income not only through its sale, but also through other derived products such as wax, pollen and royal jelly. “In addition, this activity encourages job creation and the development of rural areas, while promoting sustainable beekeeping,” they emphasize in a press release.
