Samara governor on corruption in football – EADaily, November 26, 2024 – Society. News, Russian news

The governor of the Samara region, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, made a sensational speech about corruption in Russian football, including the judiciary. EADaily presents a transcript of his speech from a video published today, November 26, on Fedorishchev’s Telegram channel.

“Two months ago one of the officials from the Krylia Sovetov football club came to see me. He said: “Vyacheslav Andreevich, you are counting the debts of “Alas”. We have another debt – about 36 million rubles. I asked him why. He replied that he could not talk about it, since it was a crime. Finally he told me. And it turned out that “The Wings of the Soviets” owe 36 million to anonymous criminals, apparently involved in corruption in the refereeing body of Russian football. – said the head of the region.

“I did some analytical work and this is what I saw for myself. I’m not new anymore, I’ve been playing professional soccer with you for six months.

First: unfortunately, in the judiciary, where wonderful professionals, strong and highly respected experts work, there are still people who discredit it by engaging in corruption.

Second: Apparently this system has been in place for the past few years, and we all conditionally agreed that mutual accountability allows clubs and leaders in the region to, if not make, then coordinate such decisions. At the same time, I’m not saying it’s the whole body or most of it, no. “I’m probably referring to individual people.” — emphasized Fedorishchev.

“I know that in many teams there are relevant people who, by organizing this, have a certain quasi-corruption component in the profit. This means that the clubs are also active participants in the process.” – says the governor.

“I know that this system is complex and has been built up over the years, and the one who is in the field is not a warrior. If I raise this flag alone, I probably won’t get very far. And it is not me personally who will suffer as governor, but the entire team that plays in the Premier League.

A legendary team that we are very proud of. “Krylia Sovetov” will be judged on the field, as sometimes happened with the teams that raised their voices on this issue,” — Fedorishchev summarized.

sports lawyer Mikhail Prokopets In conversation with HE he responded to the words of the governor of the Samara region:

“The Criminal Code of the Russian Federation contains article 184 “Exercising unlawful influence on the result of an official sports competition.” I think that if the governor, and not, for example, a blogger, talks about corruption in our football, then he has all the means to contact the authorities so that they can find out the circumstances, who owes money and to whom.

If the governor has a wish, then he must not only say so, but also contact the RFU, Alexander Dukovlaw enforcement agencies.

He found out about the crime, he is obliged to convey this information to the corresponding authorities. It’s not enough to say that one of the club’s leaders approached you and told you. It is necessary to contact the authorities, as this is a violation of the criminal code. That is why we need to find the guilty in the judiciary. It seems to me that this is a laudable wish of the governor of the Samara region, which deserves to be applauded. The main thing is not to stop talking, but to keep going.”

“SE” reminds: according to the governor, about ten RPL clubs do this, and the total amount of money spent on corruption in Russian football refereeing is 500 million rubles a year. The head of the region called on his colleagues and heads of state corporations to stop this vicious practice.

And finally, the comment of a deputy of the Russian State Duma. Dmitri Svischev:

“This is a pretty serious accusation. And therefore, the governor of the Samara region must contact the law enforcement authorities. This serious accusation should not go unnoticed. In addition, the governor must deal not only with the judiciary, but also with the Club, which agreed to possible bribes. If they’re talking about it, then it’s time to look into it.”
