Sánchez advances PSOE congress to this autumn amid split over Catalan quota

The criticism continues within the PSOE and Pedro Sánchez makes a gesture. The socialist general secretary has decided to bring forward the federal congress of his party to this autumn, in November as a preferred option, to strengthen its internal leadership, at a time of legislative paralysis, and incidentally, to activate the renewal of the regional directorates.

Some, like that of Aragon, have caused serious headaches for the President of the Government. Yesterday evening, without going any further, the Regional Executive of Aragon approved a manifesto criticizing the Catalan quota and the possibility of granting Catalonia preferential financing compared to the rest of the autonomous communities of Spain. In this context, and as “The Objective” advances and Europa Press has confirmed it, Sánchez has taken the decision to act and anticipate his plans to renew the PSOE federations.

At a delicate moment for the socialist, with judicial investigations into his closest entourage, his parliamentary fragility and internal noise within his ranks about concessions to the independence movement, Sánchez decides to convene the Federal Congress, the party’s supreme body, for this autumn, although the last one took place in October 2021 in Valencia and it will not be necessary to convene it until the end of next year.
