Sánchez considers the “return” to his country of irregular migrants as “essential” to “dissuade” the mafias

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, reiterated this Wednesday the beneficial effects of regular migration, but warned that it is “essential” for those who arrive irregularly in Spain to return to their country.

“Mainly,” he said, “because This return sends a discouraging messageclear, clear and energetic for the mafias and those who put themselves in their hands, but essentially because European and Spanish legislation requires it.

Sanchez spoke about the need for these Returns of irregular migrants in his speech at an event at the Instituto Cervantes in Dakar during which the initiative ‘The African Alliance is making progress” to promote investments in Senegal and which was the first on his agenda in this country, the last stop on the tour which also took him to Mauritania and Gambia.

It was in this speech that he publicly mentioned for the first time during his tour the need for the return of people who arrived illegally in Spain.

He did so after mentioning the migratory pressure existing today and insists on its defense of regular and orderly migration because it believes that it opens the way to prosperity and economic and cultural development and that it is good for both the country of origin and the one that receives them.

In this regard, he stressed the importance of circular migration that Spain promotes with several countries, including Senegal, and through which workers are originally hired to carry out seasonal work in Spanish territory and, once finished, they return to their country.

To continue to act in this direction, it considered security as an absolute priority and this is why it will continue to support Senegal in this area in general and in particular in matters of migration.

Sánchez regretted that criminal networks of human trafficking continue to grow and play with the lives of thousands of people and are associated with other illicit trafficking and terrorism.

Combating this threat is when we considered “essential“the return of those who arrive irregularly in Spain. A message that he transmitted to the Minister of Economy of Senegal, Abdourahamane Saarr, who spoke at the presentation event of the ‘Africa Alliance Advances’ initiative.
