Sánchez expands 510 places to accommodate immigrants in Carabanchel and Alcalá de Henares

The delegate of the Government of Madrid, Francisco Martin Aguirreinformed by email to the Community of Madrid that the Executive of Pedro Sanchez will increase the capacity of temporary reception centers for immigrants in Carabanchel And Alcalá de HenaresIn 400 and 110 places additional respectively.

This increase in places is in addition to what already happened in October when the Sánchez Executive approved an expansion of 108 places at the Carabanchel immigration center and 105 in Alcalá de Henares. The Community of Madrid expressed its indignation on this subject and asked the President of the Government to explain his plans to control the irregular immigration.

Thus, the Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Local Administration and spokesperson for the regional Government, Miguel Ángel García Martín, responded this Sunday with another email to make the central government aware of its concern about the “migratory chaos in which they plunge us and the lack of control and effective measures to alleviate a situation which has lasted for too long.

García Martín also reiterated his concern regarding the saturation of those macro camps of immigrants who, according to regional government estimates, are already more than 3,210 places. The advisor indicated that “it seems paradoxical and cynical” that the Delegation questioned from the first moment the establishment of the new first reception center for minors. La Cantueña (Fuenlabrada) with 99 placesperfectly adapted to legal requirements, while the government of Pedro Sánchez continues to expand places in other centers without any provision.

In this sense, the advisor asked the Government delegate the number of places available in these two centers of Carabanchel and Alcalá de Henares as well as the one located in Pozuelo de Alarcón.

In addition, he requested information on the number of people who have passed through it since its launch and on the actions that his department will carry out in collaboration with the central government to “put an end to the serious migration crisis that our country is experiencing” . ” country by call Canary Islands routeand through the Madrid-Barajas International Airport“.

The advisor also asked Pedro Sánchez to join agreements with the countries of origin and with the European Union to put in place real measures that make it possible to control the irregular immigration that arrives in our country, and that give autonomous communities and municipalities the necessary economic means and resources since then, they are the ones who have had to take care of these people.

As García Martín points out, the migration crisis that Spain is currently experiencing for a year, including Madrid, since it is the capital and has the main gateway with Barajas airport, has required the creation of a center as quickly as possible to decongest the child protection network.

La Cantuena Center

So far this year, the Community of Madrid has served more than 2,000 unaccompanied minors. The first reception center for unaccompanied minors La Cantueñain Fuenlabrada, has a capacity of 99 places.

The property belongs to the Community of Madrid and has been disused for years. To facilitate access, there are several public transport lines and the entity that manages it has allowed 10 vehicles to transport minors to activities carried out outside the center. It has many facilities to develop integration and training plans.

Minors receive Spanish lessonsmake outings sports facilities nearby and they play sports on the football field set up in the center. Additionally, educators develop educational outings during the week to teach minors how to get around on public transport and the different forms of free leisure they can enjoy in Madrid.

A center harshly criticized by the socialist mayor of Fuenlabrada, Javier Ayalawho ironically even gave this place of reception for unaccompanied immigrant minors the name of President Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
